Octopath Traveler Is Coming To Xbox Consoles & Game Pass on March 25

1 post in this topic

Xbox Game Pass has landed another huge RPG, as Microsoft has announced that Octopath Traveler is coming to the service later this month. Octopath Traveler was originally a timed exclusive for Nintendo Switch, which sold out so quickly that Square Enix had to apologize for the lack of copies.

Octopath Traveler is a JRPG with beautiful visuals that are meant to evoke the 16-bit era of Square Enix's output. The game follows eight different adventurers, each with their own storyline and special abilities. The player can experience these stories in any order they wish, while forming their own dream party out of the available characters. Octopath Traveler also has a character class system, allowing for even more customization.

Octopath Traveler has been released on different systems since launch, and it's about to make the jump to Microsoft's platforms. According to the official Xbox website, Octopath Traveler is coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on March 25. The RPG will be available on Game Pass for both PC and consoles on day one. It's joining a number of other titles coming to Game Pass this month, including acclaimed indie RPG Undertale, prohibition-era gangster simulator Empire of Sin, and the highly-anticipated looter shooter Outriders.

Microsoft has been developing a relationship with Square Enix over the past few years, which has resulted in a number of classic Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts games appearing on Game Pass. This also included bringing Dragon Quest 11 S to Game Pass on day one. It seems that the relationship between Microsoft and Square Enix is far stronger than anyone realized, even with the Outriders deal, and it could lead to more Square Enix games arriving on the service in the future.

Xbox Game Pass is becoming a huge draw for RPG fans. The recent ZeniMax acquisition has led to a number of Fallout and Elder Scrolls games appearing on the service over the past week, while there are rumors circulating that Persona 5 could be coming to Xbox in the future. The Xbox brand has commonly been associated with action-oriented games in the past, but that could all be changing soon, especially if more high-quality JRPGs like Octopath Traveler arrive on the service in the future.

Octopath Traveler is coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on March 25. The game will launch on Game Pass for consoles and PC on day one.
