PlayStation Game Sale Is Offering Discounts On Sequels & Prequels

1 post in this topic

The latest PlayStation game sale sees solid discounts come to many different sequels and prequels of blockbuster franchises. Most digital game stores put sales into effect at major season changes such as Spring sales and Summer sales, the perfect time for gamers to snag a few of those titles that might have been a pinch too much for the wallet at release.

Playstation's sale comes a few weeks before the annual spring sale for the digital store. This is just one of many sales events that hire specific genres, series, or types of games. More recently, a massive sale highlighting the platform's massive library of indie games concluded. Sony has recently made the decision to remove movie and television purchases from the PlayStation store, citing streaming services and their domination of the market as the reasoning. This will allow the digital store to focus completely on the improvement of the store's UI and the sales of other games.

The PlayStation Store's sale began on the 10th of March and proceeds until the 24th of March. This sale sees large discounts on various entries in blockbuster franchises such as Assassin's Creed, Borderlands, and the Mafia Definitive Editions. This huge sale also sees discounts on various DLC's like Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds and the season pass for Assassin's Creed: Origins. This just scratches the surface of the deals on offer currently at the Playstation store.

While no huge PlayStation exclusives have discounts currently, this ongoing sale is a great way to bridge any gaps in franchise entries that players might have. Both remasters of Assassin's Creed 3 and Rogue have sizable discounts that might see many players revisit two of the stronger entries in the series pre-Origins. Sony is sure to keep sales such as these activities going forward as it makes moves to keep the PlayStation 4 relevant as the PlayStation 5 gets its footing. It was recently announced that Sony will be updating the PlayStation 4's firmware to add some requested features and bolster the previous-gen console's performance.

Many Playstation players continue to bide their time and enjoy their PlayStation 4 since the new PlayStation 5 is near impossible to acquire. Between scalpers and high demand, many consumers have to cling onto whatever word they can get that a retailer might get some units of the new PlayStation 5 in stock before they are swiped and put onto sites such as eBay for ridiculous prices. It is not known when console shortages will end considering that supply line difficulties have made acquiring manufacturing components difficult for companies such as Sony and Microsoft.
